POLICY BRIEFS

Adoption of Gender Marker and Medical Surgeries Guidelines for Intersex Persons

Intersex persons face several challenges and human rights violations in accessing documentation, medical treatment, education and employment opportunities. Some of these challenges were highlighted in the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission National Inquiry on Access to Documentation in Zimbabwe and the Dialogue on the Human Rights Situation of Intersex Persons in Zimbabwe, conducted in December 2024.

MANUALS

Practitioners' Manual on Constitutional Rights Vol.1

The Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission ZHRC has produced this manual as a resource and reference material for use by Practitioners when conducting training on the Declaration of Rights, Chapter Four of the Constitution of Zimbabwe in fulfilment of the Commission’s human rights awareness raising function as provided for in Section 243 (1) (a).

Policy Brief Reduction of passport fees

The high cost of passports in Zimbabwe has been identified as an impediment to freedom
of movement and access to economic opportunities outside the country. It also fuels
irregular migration. High passport fees were identified in the Zimbabwe Human Rights
Commission (ZHRC) National Inquiry (NI) on Access to Documentation report as
negatively impacting access to travel documentation. The NI report was adopted as a
national document by the Parliament in 2020.
